NECA Gold Award Medal 2015 EXCELLENCE State WinnerFREDON QLD has been awarded two 2015 National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Excellence Awards:

  • Commercial – Small Project, and
  • Commercial – Medium Project

The Small Project award was for the Gold Coast Private Hospital bus duct riser installation.

Award winning prebabricated duct riser

Lowering the bus riser

The bus duct riser was prefabricated to a unique design that allowed the entire building electrical riser and direct associated distribution boards to be installed in one day.  The technique delivered better safety, reduced onsite waste and cost savings. It is the first time it has been done in Australia. Using techniques developed in Fredon’s Air Division, several floors of prefabricated electric core were lowered into a slot in the new hospital building.

The Medium Project award was for the Aldi distribution centre – Brendale project.

The Brendale distribution project for Aldi supermarkets was remarkable for its size and impeccable environmental standard. The distribution centre achieved a 4 Star Green Star rating.  Sustainable initiatives included; water harvesting and recycling, energy efficiency and coordination within the refrigeration plant to eliminate synthetic refrigerants, and the minimisation of PVC and volatile organic compounds in its construction.
