The HiPath 8000 is a SIP-based real-time IP system overlay network for Large and Very Large Enterprises and can be deployed and managed either as a typical enterprise solution or as a hosted service, managed either by the customer, a managed service provider or by Siemens. It will provide enterprises with a robust service creation and delivery infrastructure, which will allow customers to integrate simply and cost-effectively converged voice, multi-media and multimodal services, and applications across the organization via the IP infrastructure.
While the HiPath 8000 supports multiple protocols due to its carrier heritage, the SIP protocol is the fundamental architectural approach due to its ability to support both telephony and other realtime services that will be commonplace in the new NGN (Next Generation Network) world such as video, multi-media, multi-modal, collaboration services, presence, etc.
HiPath 8000 is a native SIP real-time IP system scalable up to 100,000 users per system and a virtually unlimited number of users in a network of HiPath 8000 systems.
