The Canberra Hospital expansion is part of the ACT government’s commitment to the largest upgrade of its healthcare infrastructure to ensure it meets the growing community need. The Canberra Hospital expansion will include a new building with more operating theatres, extra treatment spaces, and intensive care beds as part of the upgrade.

The Shaw Building Group engaged Fredon to upgrade the main switchboard and distribution boards located within the complex. The aim was to reduce the risk of electric shock and provide safer environments for both people working on the electrical systems as well as occupants of the building.

The works included:

  • Demolition and Removal of Existing Main Switchboard, Distribution Boards as well as Cable Support Systems & Redundant Cabling
  • New Intermediate Main Switchboards and Distribution Boards
  • Modifications and Integration of Existing Main Switchboards and Distribution Boards
  • BMS, EMS & Surge Protection
  • Cable Management
  • New Submain Cabling
  • Standby Generator System

The project is anticipated to be completed in 2024.
