Mates In Construction WA held their 2020 MATES Helping Mates Leadership Awards on Thursday, 10th of September at Optus Stadium in Perth. The Leadership Awards acknowledge the efforts of individuals and organisations in WA who have demonstrated a positive influence in improving mental health in the WA construction industry.

We are proud to announce that Fredon WA received the Mates Helping Mates Leadership Award for Small to Medium Size Organisation for our ongoing strategic education, awareness and prevention training, and social initiatives to empower our workers to openly discuss mental health and wellbeing within our community.

Fredon WA HSEQ Manager, Matt Hill, proudly accepted the award on behalf of Fredon WA, and thanked his colleagues for the support and the ongoing efforts of his team on doing their part to improve mental health in the industry.

“It was an honour to accept this award on behalf of Fredon WA and our national HSEQ Team. Thank you to our MATES In Construction trained Connectors and ASIST workers, who are the ones implementing this initiative and making a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of our people.

Thank you to our Leadership Team, particularly Fredon WA Directors Bernie Thornton and Paul Hurwitz, for their continued support of the MATES initiative and their focus on keeping our workers mentally healthy.”

Matt Hill, Fredon WA HSEQ Manager

Well done to all of our Fredon’s MATES ASIST workers and Connectors – your ongoing efforts in raising awareness of mental wellbeing, and improving mental health in our industry truly has an incredible impact on the community.
