Located in Canberra, the Finlay Crisp Centre underwent a major redesign and upgrade to make way for contemporary office spaces for government agencies. The precinct incorporates Allara, Nara and Customs House buildings, built in a “U” shape around a courtyard and an underground car park basement.
Beginning in October 2020, Fredon was involved in designing and deploying the new Electrical, Communications, Audio Visual, and Security infrastructure at Allara and Nara Buildings.
The works delivered included upgrading the existing Electrical infrastructure at Allara and Nara House, including replacing all MIMS submains, consumer mains, MSBs, rising mains, local House and Tenant Distribution and UPS infrastructure installation.
Fredon also provided energy-efficient solutions, which included a lighting control system throughout both buildings, installing low-consumption LED lighting, designing and installing a 60kw Solar System and designing and installing one of the largest electrical car charging systems in Canberra that can charge 80 electric vehicles at one time.
During this project, the team also had the challenge of finding alternative product solutions due to the Global Silicon Chip shortage, which affected the supply of the client’s specified products. In the end, to hand over the AV System within the timeline, Fredon offered an alternative AV hybrid system incorporating preferred and alternative products.
The project was completed in February 2022 and received a Highly Commended Award at the ACT Chapter of the NECA State Awards in 2022.
