Fremantle Hospital D4 Refurbishment

Fremantle Hospital is a public hospital in central Fremantle, southwest of Perth. The public hospital first opened in 1897 with the building itself originally a private residence. It is currently a 300-bed hospital focused on services such as mental health, aged care, secondary rehabilitation, palliative care, and planned surgeries.

Fredon were awarded the contract for the electrical, communications, security, nurse call, dry fire, CCTV, and MATV package for the D4 refurbishment. This included the full demolition of an existing ward, installation of all new power and lighting throughout including Medilec patient areas, installation of new communication outlets and optic fibre and telephone backbones, installation of new nurse call, access control, CCTV systems, an extension of the existing dry fire, and EWIS warning system.

It also included 2 new floor distribution boards installed, the Building’s Main Switchboard replaced, and all new submains throughout to replace existing MIMs cabling.

The Fredon team was also contracted to update the existing operating theatre suite. The significant theatre upgrades included new HVAC systems, compliant cabling systems, and new-age operating equipment for the 8 existing theatres. The scope included partial demolition of existing theatres to facilitate new lighting, general power, mechanical services, and emergency lighting. Programmable lighting control, and cardiac and body-protected areas.

The Fredon team completed the project in March 2023.
