The M4-M5 Link is the final stage of the WestConnex project, Sydney’s largest integrated road transport infrastructure project to date.

Completed in two separate stages, Fredon will deliver the High Voltage Reticulation and Substations Fit-out for the first stage, the M4-M5 Link Tunnels. 

The M4-M5 Link Tunnels will further enhance the network providing vital connections to the rest of the WestConnex network, Rozelle Interchange and Sydney Gateway as well future project including the Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link and the M6.

Fredon will be responsible for the installing, testing and commissioning of the following:

• 33kV GIS High Voltage Switchboards
• 33kV/690/440 Tri winding Dry Type Transformers
• Variable Speed Drives 
• UPS and Battery Chargers 
• DC Systems 
• Motor Control Centers (690/440V AC) 
• Optical Fiber and Communications Systems
• Damper Control Panels
• Lightning Protection Systems

Fredon will also complete the installation and termination of 18 km of 33kV HV & Optical Fiber cable throughout the tunnel, shafts and substations and will also Test and Commission the High Voltage Network on the project.

The M4-M5 Link Tunnels is scheduled to open for traffic in 2023.
